Observe, Read, Write, and Study One of the first steps you will want to take is to become familiar with the various looks and feels of your project whether it be a marketing project or a book. Start collecting business cards, postcards, and various marketing projects that appeal to you. Visit book stores to see what is a available in the type of books that you wish to publish. Who they are attracting or writing for and how they are branding themselves. You will want to position you and your business/book in a unique niche and also what makes sense for you.
Register for on-line webinars, teleconferences, workshops or schedule a one-on-one consultation that will focus on your project exclusively. If you are looking to publish check
the internet using such as “self publishing” and
“online publishing” keywords and read all you can about self-publishing. The local library also has a host of authoritative books on writing your own book and on self-publishing. I offer a full day workshop that covers everything you need to know about self-publishing most months — www.writethatbook.ca.When you are ready to move forward, Budd Publishing will
be pleased to help you get started with a free half-hour consultation. We can
talk about your goals, your branding and how you will want to proceed.

INSPIRATION
| Self-publishing is an old and honourable pursuit. Walt Whitman’s "Leaves of Grass", Edgar Rice Burroughs’s "Tarzan of the Apes", Henry George’s "Progress and Poverty", Beatrix Potter’s "The Tale of Peter Rabbit", Mary Baker Eddy’s "Science and Health , Robert’s Rules of Order," Bartlett’s "Quotations"—all these and many other internationally famous books were originally published by their authors. —Quote from "Self Publishing: The Handbook" |
